O Gauge Layout Plans - 5′ x 9′ Twice Around for Lionel FasTrack
The 5′ x 9′ Twice Around plan for Lionel FasTrack will fit nicely on a ping pong table or by extending a standard 4′ x ‘8 piece of plywood to 5′ x 9′. This plan packs a lot of fun in a small space and making the train circle around itself before completing one lap gives the illusion of a larger track plan.
Some key features of this plan are a passenger area with 3 MTH Railking Passenger Platforms (MTH product # 30-9006) in the upper left, two industrial sidings one for Lionel’s Log Loader (Lionel product # 6-24115), a small yard for parking rolling stock or extra engines, a Lionel Grade Crossing with Flashers (product # 6-12052) and a Lionel Sawmill (Lionel product #6-24147). Other buildings on this plan include MTH’s Thomas & Son’s Feed & Supply Warehouse (MTH product #30-90024), a MTH PRR Switch Tower (MTH product #30-9031), a MTH UP Switch Tower (MTH product #30-9048), a Lionel Passenger/Freight Station (Lionel product #12734) and a MTH Water Tower (MTH product #30-11028).
Electrically isolating the sidings by cutting the center rails of the track sections highlighted in RED with a Dremel tool and powering the sections individually with a second conventional transformer will enable engines to be stored on the layout.
The curves highlighted in BLUE will need to have the metal joiners under the roadbed removed (connecting the two outer rails together) so the special 5″ pieces included with the Lionel Grade Crossing can trigger the flashers correctly.

My question is .. Would I be able to run 2 circular loops on a 5×8 plywood? and adding the extra foot width enable me to do so?
