A Christmas Train Layout From Start To Finish in 2 Minutes 39 Seconds

Ever since reading this post, I wanted to put together a stop motion video.  Last year I set up a tri-pod in the corner of the room and snapped over 500 photos over 4 days as me and my family assembled the train layout and decorated the tree.  The resulting video is pretty cool.  Watch it below.

That’s really neat Dave. Nice work.

That is a great idea (and video). I wish I would have done that year, and I will have to do it next year.

WONDERFUL! How about some closeup photos of the layout?

Your layout is marvelous; my whole family has really enjoyed your video. Would you be willing to share more specifics of your layout. I have just recently purchased my first set as an adult and am working with Lionel FasTrack. I would really like to try to recreate your layout for Christmas 2009. Thanks again for sharing the video.

Dave, excellent video, I really enjoyed it! I am sure you and your family have a great time running your trains. Is there any way that you can e-mail me your track plan? I am thinking of building a portable Christmas tree layout and yours looks pretty cool! Thanks!

Hi Bob, I used a modified version of the Three Times Around the Tree plan found in the December 2006 issue of Classic Toy Trains. You can order the 12/06 issue here. I modified the plan to use MTH Realtrax instead of the O Gauge tubular track the plan uses.
