MTH’s 2008 Volume 1 catalog is available to be viewed online.  The latest from MTH includes a number of items in MTH’s less expensive but highly detailed Imperial Line.  These items include the 4-6-4 Hiawatha Passenger Set which is a great deal at a MSRP of $499.99 for the 4-6-4 and a set of 4 passenger cars, the Norfolk & Western Class "J" Northern Steam engine and the 4-6-4 Hudson Empire State Express.   I got a chance to look at most of the new Imperial Line products at the York show and they all were very nice.

Some other interesting additions to the catalog include the return of the FM
Trainmaster to the Rail-King Scale line and new Premier Line releases
of the 2-10-0 Russian Decapod, the 4-6-4 Royal Hudson, the 2-3-1E
"Orient Express" Pacific Steam Engine and the P5 Box Cab Electric.  The massive Chessapeake and Ohio M-1 Steam Turbo Electric and E33 and
E44 Electrics return to the Premier Line as well.

All Premier Line steam engines in this catalog come equipped with MTH’s
new wireless draw bar that replaces the unsightly cable that connected
the electronics in the tender to the locomotive (the M-1 Steam Turbo
Electric is pictured with a draw bar but the "Features" list doesn’t
list it).   With few exceptions all the Premier Line steam and diesel
locomotives include Proto-Scale 3-2.  Pieces equipped with Proto-Scale
3-2 can be converted to run on 2 rail O-Scale track with AC or DC
power.  Big news for O-Scalers.

Owners of the Coors Light train will be happy to see the operating
reefer "tail" car which will look great a the end of the set.  MTH also
released 2-Bay center flow hopper cars painted in the UP Heritage paint
schemes to complement the UP Heritage locomotives.  Also, almost all
Premier Line freight cars now come equipped with O Scale Kadee
coupler compatible mounting pads.

One other interesting addition was the new wireless draw bar
set.  The set includes 3 different lengths of wireless draw bars so
folks with wide radius curves can close couple locomotives and tenders
equipped with the wireless draw bar.

On a separate note, MTH demonstrated a few interesting features at the York show that
will be added to future MTH locomotives.  One was a
whistle that blows steam and the other was a bell that moves in perfect
synchronization with the bell sound.  Both were very cool.
