Clearing Up The TMCC2 “York Controversy”
There have been a few interesting posts recently over at the Hi-Rail Times concerning Lionel’s legal issues with MTH. Erol Gurcan (aka "LocoLawyer"), a regular contributor and friend here at OGaugeWatch, recently addressed one of those Hi-Rail Times posts through an article he wrote that I posted the other day. Erol’s article provoked a response from none other then "Clyde Coil" himself. I laughed my you know what off when Clyde called Erol a "hog faced caboose chaser"! Great stuff.
In a post entitled "CCA Seeks Loco-Lawyer", "Clyde" writes a seemingly sarcastic post asking LocoLawyer to get to the bottom of why Lionel didn’t demo TMCC2 Legacy at the Fall ‘06 TCA train meet in York, PA. There is some controversy as to why and Clyde’s stance is that the TCA wouldn’t "sanction" a demo to be held at York. Well, Lionel addressed this controversy during the TCA Museum’s Fall ‘06 open house.
UPDATE 11/4/06: The folks at Hi-Rail Times pulled both posts mentioned above.

As my regular readers know, I cover the TCA Museum’s open house event,
which is held the day before the start of the Spring and Fall York
train meets each year, and post a summary of what the manufacturers
had to say. For the Fall open house on 10/18, I picked up a small digital voice
recorder and recorded the presentations to help supplement my notes.
The quality of the recordings was much better than expected so I
decided to use the MTH recording to create my first pod cast.
I recorded the Lionel presentation as well and in it a Lionel
representative (I appologize for not knowing his name) directly addresses why Lionel
did not demo TMCC2 Legacy at York. As I reported in my Fall ‘06 York recap, Lionel stated TMCC2 was not ready for the demo. Listen for yourselves by clicking on the red circle below.
That’s the "dang" truth and nothing but the truth according to Lionel. Clyde should be
able to rest easy now. Since the Coil Coupler site is tied with Neil Young, part owner of Lionel, it’s intersting that "Clyde Coil" would contradict Lionel. I will bring you the Lionel presentation in it’s entirety once I get a chance to pull the podcast together. Stay tuned.

It’s about time people stopped guessing what TMCC II will or won’t do and “how much better (?)” it is vs MTH DCS. The fact IS, it’s NOT ready for primetime!
