OGaugeWatch.com Toy Train Auction Calendar

There are a few live auctions taking place this weekend and during the month of October no fewer than 7 are scheduled. Some will conduct their auctions using eBay Live Auctions,
others will accept absentee bids through their website while others do
it the old fashioned way. Attending these auctions can be a fun way to
build a collection especially if you’re searching for that hard to find
piece to complete part of a collection. Be sure to check out the OGaugeWatch Auction Calender here listing all of the auctions from the major toy train auction houses.
The calendar will be updated on a regular basis so check it often.
If you are aware of auctions that are not listed please contact me by
email, dave[at]ogaugewatch[dot]com, and I will gladly add the auction to the calendar.

Model Railroading In The News #12

Installment #12 of Model Railroading in the News marks my first post since my return from an enjoyable family vacation at Mickey’s house in Florida. In this installment we start off with a not so model railroading related article involving Richard Kughn, ex owner of Lionel. Next is a piece from the New York Times chronicling the travels of a recording specialist who is recording NY subway sounds for Lionel’s new MTA subway model (this one requires free registration at the NY Times site before you can read it). And news out of Germany is that G scale train manufacturer LGB has filed for bankruptcy. Click on the link below to read these and other interesting articles.

Cool Site: www.toytrainsontracks.com
I was catching up on my forum reading when I came across a post on the Classic Toy Trains forum containing a link to the Toy Trains On Tracks website. The site is devoted to a layout called the Black Diamond Railway and has lots of links to fantastic photos and video clips of O Gauge in action on the beautiful Hi-Rail layout. Be sure to check it out. Also, the Black Diamond layout will be featured as the cover story in the upcoming October/November issue (Run 217) of O Gauge Railroading magazine.

Jerry Calabrese Comments on Union Pacific Trademark Infringement Settlement and Lionel’s Recent Sales By Erol Gurcan
September 16, 2006-On September 13, 2006, I wrote an article stating Lionel had settled the trademark infringement lawsuit brought against it by Union Pacific and had entered into a licensing agreement with them. The next day, Lionel CEO Jerry Calabrese posted a statement on its web site confirming the licensing agreement and thanking UP for working with Lionel to resolve the situation.
Earlier today, I talked with Mr. Calabrese and discussed the trademark infringement settlement and Lionel’s recent sales. He wanted me to pass along a few comments about our conversation.
